What We Love About Westchester
Located on the westside of LA County, Westchester is a neighborhood that’s commonly known for being the home to the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Loyola Marymount University, Otis College of Art and Design, and Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnet Schools. It’s also conveniently located next to our El Segundo and Torrance locations.
Since it houses the fourth busiest airport in America, Westchester is known to be a popular layover hub for LAX travelers. But even for locals alike, there’s plenty to do in this quiet little town. So, what do we love to do? Here are some of our favorite things.
We love spending weekend afternoons browsing through Soundsations, a classic music and record store that specializes in new, used, and rare vinyl, along with CDs, DVDs, and Blu-rays. Think Amoeba Records, but without the Hollywood crowds.
You can easily find LA natives and tourists walking around the Promenade at Howard Hughes Center, which is a two-level outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment center that features venues like Dave & Buster’s and Cinemark.
Whenever we get the chance, we love catching a performance at Loyola Marymount University since it’s known to host numerous events throughout the year that are free and open to the community.
The Westchester Golf Course, an 18-hole public golf course, is also great for both tourists and locals looking to have a day out on the green. Don’t know to golf? You’ll want to take advantage of their lesson packages that are available for both children and adults.
If you’re of fan of aviation, then Westchester is without a doubt the neighborhood for you. At the Flight Path Museum and Learning Center, you’ll get to learn about the contributions civil aviation made in relation to the history and development of Southern California. Oh, and did we mention admission into the museum is free?
However, our absolute favorite thing to do when visiting Westchester is to simply grab a combo #1 at In-N-Out located on Sepulveda Blvd and get a close-up view of the airplanes flying in and out of LAX.
At Sports & Spine, we’re committed to making sure our neighbors get back to doing what they love most—by doing what we love most. Our goal is to make sure that the residents of Westchester are happy and healthy because this is our community, too.
