What We Love About Lomita
Lomita, which means “little knoll” in Spanish, is a small community in Los Angeles County that’s around 1.9 miles and features mellow, low-key suburban living. It’s also conveniently positioned within just a short commute of our El Segundo and Torrance locations.
While neighboring cities like Torrance feature large malls and shopping centers, Lomita is known for smaller mom-and-pop shops in its quiet three-block downtown area.
A staple in the city is the Lomita Fair, which originated in 1982 and has become one of the largest fairs in the Los Angeles area. Lomita Fair usually takes place the weekend after Labor Day and is a weekend full of thrilling carnival rides, exciting games, savory food, live entertainment, and of course, plenty of wholesome fun for the entire family.
Oh, and did we mention that Lomita has an under-the-radar food scene that you need to check out? Because when our burger cravings kick in, our go-to burger joint is Lomita’s Burger City Grill, which was recently named South Bay’s Best Burger (Independent) by the Daily Breeze. So, if you’re craving a good old-fashioned burger and fries, you’ll want to make a stop here and skip the In-N-Out line.
When we’re in the area, another place we have to stop at is the Continental Gourmet Market to pick up some delicious Argentinian empanadas and pastries. The market, which was featured on the Food Network’s “California or Bust,” also features imported groceries and specialty items from Argentina, Chile, and Peru.
If you have yet to try an escape room and want to challenge your mind, Lomita’s Planet Escape Room is the perfect opportunity to get some friends together and work collectively to solve puzzles, find codes, unlock doors, and break out in the allotted time.
Our list of reasons as to why we love Lomita are endless, but the ultimate reason lies in the simple fact that they’re our ever-supportive neighbors. And at Sports & Spine, we’re committed to making sure our neighbors get back to doing what they love most—by doing what we love most.
Our goal is to make sure that the residents of Lomita are happy and healthy because this is our community, too. We care about our patients and the last thing we want is for you to be stuck on the sidelines. Visit our office today to learn about all the ways our orthopedists can get you back on your feet.
