What We Love About Long Beach

We may be biased, but we think that Southern California happens to be the best place to live in the United States. Luckily, the breezy oceanside area of Long Beach is conveniently positioned within just a short commute to our El Segundo and Torrance locations.

Long Beach, which is located within Los Angeles County along the Pacific coast, is actually the 39th largest city in the country and the seventh largest city in California. It’s located about 22 miles south of downtown LA.

Long Beach is an area that’s jam-packed with artistic culture. The area features monthly fine art openings and exhibits. The beach is alive with the sound of music, as Long Beach is home to an opera, a symphony, jazz clubs, a blues festival, and even a Brazilian street festival. Accordingly, many famous musicians are Long Beach natives. Sublime, Snoop Dogg, and Nate Dogg all grew up there.

Long Beach is also known as the Aquatic Capital of America due to its year-round temperate climate, which makes it ideal for a variety of of water sports. It’s also home to the Aquarium of the Pacific, which is located downtown. As Long Beach is the perfect place to train, the area has produced several Olympians and world record holders in aquatics. Legendary ship, the MS Queen Mary is also docked in Long Beach. Long Beach is home to Rosie’s Dog Beach, which is the only off-leash area on the beach for dogs in LA County.

Like most California beach towns, Long Beach has an outdoor culture fueled by days at the beach, outdoor parks, and leisurely beachside sports. Surfing and fishing are also popular activities that utilize the area’s plethora of natural resources. Residents participate in numerous sporting activities like baseball, basketball, water skiing, sailing, and even archery.

At Sports & Spine, we are committed to helping the residents of Long Beach stay in tip-top shape for all of their favorite activities, both indoor and outdoor. Whether you have a tennis elbow or a surfing injury, the orthopedists at Sports & Spine are here to help.
